What a hydrating body wrap is
Nourish and rejuvenate your skin with a hydrating body wrap treatment that deeply hydrates, softens and revitalizes the skin.
A nourishing product is applied over the body, and the body is then wrapped so the product has time and warmth to absorb. The wrapping is not theater — it is the mechanism. Warmth and occlusion together get considerably more of the product into the skin than simply applying it and letting it sit.
The session runs in sections with the same draping standards as any other treatment. You are wrapped and left to rest while the product works, which is a genuinely quiet stretch that many clients say is the best part of the 75 minutes.
Wrap or polish?
The two body treatments on the menu do opposite things at the same price and duration.
| Hydrating Body Wrap | Luxury Full Body Polish | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Delivers moisture into the skin | Removes dead surface skin, then seals |
| Best for | Dry, tight, dull skin | Rough texture, flaking, uneven feel |
| Exfoliation | None to speak of | This is the entire point |
| Duration and price | 75 minutes, $175 | 75 minutes, $175 |
If your skin is tight and thirsty, book the wrap. If it is rough, book the polish. If it is both, do the polish first and the wrap a week or two later — exfoliated skin absorbs better. The full comparison is in what is a hydrating body wrap.
Who it suits
- Anyone whose skin has been dried out by months of air conditioning, chlorine and Texas sun.
- People with persistently tight-feeling skin on the shins, forearms and back.
- Anyone who moisturizes diligently and still feels dry, which usually means the moisture is not getting far enough in.
- Clients who want a genuinely restful treatment — the wrapped portion is unusually quiet and still.
- Anyone preparing for an event, ideally a few days ahead rather than the same morning.
What it does not do
Body wraps attract more marketing nonsense than almost any other spa treatment, so it is worth being direct about it. This treatment does not detoxify, does not cause inch loss, does not cause weight loss and does not remove cellulite. Any immediate change in measurements is compression and fluid movement — temporary, and not fat.
What it genuinely does is put moisture into skin that has run dry, leave it soft and comfortable for a week or so, and provide 75 unusually restful minutes. That is a good treatment on its own terms and it does not need embellishing.
Practical notes
- Do not shave or wax within 24 hours beforehand — freshly stripped follicles plus an active product is an irritation you do not want.
- Declare product sensitivities and skin conditions on the intake form, before the appointment rather than during it.
- Please postpone over sunburn, eczema or psoriasis flares, or broken skin.
- Wear loose clothing to the appointment. You will not want a waistband afterwards.
- Leave the product on for the rest of the day if you can — do not shower it straight off.
Studio only
The Hydrating Body Wrap is performed at the studio and cannot be brought to your home. It needs facilities that do not travel, as do the Luxury Full Body Polish and the Hot Stone Massage. The studio is a private treatment studio inside Mattison Avenue Salon & Spa on West Northwest Highway, by appointment only.
Hydrating Body Wrap — questions
What is a hydrating body wrap?
A treatment in which a nourishing product is applied over the body and the body is wrapped so warmth and occlusion give the product time to absorb properly. It deeply hydrates, softens and revitalizes the skin. It runs 75 minutes at $175.
Do body wraps help you lose weight or inches?
No. Any immediate change in measurements is compression and fluid movement — temporary, and not fat. Detox and inch-loss claims are marketing rather than physiology. What the treatment genuinely does is hydrate dry skin and leave it soft for a week or so.
What is the difference between a body wrap and a body polish?
A wrap delivers moisture into the skin; a polish removes dead surface skin and then seals the result. Polish takes away, wrap puts in. If your skin is both rough and dry, a polish first and a wrap a week or two later works best.
Should I shave before a body wrap?
Not within 24 hours of the appointment. Freshly shaved or waxed skin combined with an active product is a reliable route to irritation.
Can I have a body wrap at home?
No. The Hydrating Body Wrap is studio-only, along with the Luxury Full Body Polish and the Hot Stone Massage — all three need facilities that do not travel.
